1. Who we are

EZ Insurance Services Inc (“EZ Insurance,” “we,” “us”) is a licensed independent insurance agency headquartered in Costa Mesa, California (CA License #0E86532). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our website, request a quote, buy or service a policy through us, or communicate with us by phone, email, or text message.

Because we help you obtain insurance, we are subject to federal and state insurance privacy laws, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and state insurance information privacy laws such as the California Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act. This policy is intended to serve as our privacy notice under those laws.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number, and home or business address.
  • Quote and application information:details needed to price and place coverage, which can include date of birth, gender, marital status, education and employment, driver’s license details, vehicles, driving history, prior insurance and claims, property details, and business details such as revenue, payroll, and operations.
  • Communications: messages, call notes, and other information you share with your agent.

Information from other sources

To quote and underwrite coverage, we and the insurance companies we work with may obtain information about you and others on your policy from sources other than you, such as:

  • Motor vehicle records and driver’s license history.
  • Insurance claims history databases (for example, CLUE reports) and prior insurers.
  • Consumer reporting agencies, including credit-based insurance scores where permitted by law.
  • Public records, property records, vehicle data providers, and business information services.

Information collected automatically

When you use our website, we and our service providers automatically collect device and usage information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring links, and the date and time of your visit, using cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).

  • To contact you about your quote, application, or policy by phone, email, and, if you opt in, text message.
  • To provide customer care and respond to your requests.
  • To operate, secure, and improve our website, and to detect and prevent fraud and misuse.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
  • To comply with legal, regulatory, and licensing obligations, and to enforce our Terms & Conditions.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:

  • Insurance companies and intermediaries. We share your information with insurance carriers, managing general agents, and wholesale brokers so they can quote, underwrite, issue, and service the coverage you request.
  • Service providers. We use vendors that perform services for us, such as website hosting, databases, address lookup, phone and text messaging, and email. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • As permitted or required by law. For example, to insurance regulators, in response to a subpoena or court order, to prevent or detect fraud, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers, our company, or others.
  • Business transfers. If our agency or its book of business is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner, who will be bound by this policy for that information.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not share nonpublic personal information with unaffiliated companies for their own marketing. Because we limit sharing this way, federal law does not require us to offer you an opt-out for it.

5. Notice of insurance information practices

This section is provided under state insurance information privacy laws, including California Insurance Code Section 791.04.

  • Information from other sources. As described in Section 2, personal information may be collected from sources other than you, including consumer reporting agencies, motor vehicle departments, claims databases, and prior insurers.
  • Consumer reports. An insurance company may obtain a consumer report, including a credit-based insurance score, in connection with your application. Consumer reports are obtained and used in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If an insurer takes adverse action based on a consumer report, it will tell you and explain how to get a copy of the report.
  • Investigative consumer reports. In some cases an investigative consumer report may be requested. You may ask to be interviewed in connection with its preparation and to receive a copy of the report.
  • Disclosures without your authorization. Information we or an insurer collect may be disclosed without your prior authorization in the circumstances permitted by law, such as to verify information, prevent fraud, perform business functions, respond to legal process, or for actuarial research.
  • Access and correction. You have the right to request access to recorded personal information about you that we hold and to request correction, amendment, or deletion of information you believe is inaccurate. See Section 10 for how to make a request.

Insurance companies that quote or issue your coverage may provide their own privacy notices, which govern the information they hold.

6. Text messages and phone calls

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This excludes text messaging opt-in data and consent, which will not be shared with any third parties.

Text messages are sent only if you opt in, and agreeing to texts is not a condition of getting a quote or buying a policy. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and reply HELP for help. We keep a record of your opt-in, including the date and the consent language you agreed to. See the Messaging Terms in our Terms & Conditions for details.

When you give us your phone number in a quote request, a licensed agent may call you about that request. Calls may be recorded for quality and training purposes. To stop calls, tell your agent or contact us using the details in Section 15.

It tells Meta when someone visits our pages, starts a quote, or submits a quote, along with standard device and browser information. We do not send Meta your name, email, phone number, address, or quote answers. Meta may use this information as described in its own privacy policy, including to show you ads. You can manage this through your Facebook ad preferences, by blocking third-party cookies in your browser, or by using an ad blocker.

No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a security breach as required by law.

9. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and as required by insurance record-keeping laws and our licensing obligations, which generally require agencies to keep policy and application records for several years. Quote requests that do not result in a policy are kept for a shorter period unless we need them for legal or compliance reasons. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

We will verify your identity before acting on a request, usually by matching information you provide with information we have. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf with your written permission. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
